CLEARFIELD -- State Rep Camille "Bud" George and the man who accused him of assault may be headed for an out-of-court arrangement

If they don't reach an agreement promptly however, a trial in the civil case will be held Nov. 8 -- the day after George, D-Houtzdale, stands for re-election.

That was the scheduling decision announced Friday by the agency of Judge J. Michael Williamson. He presided athwart a brief pre-trial conference in Clearfield shire Court.

George, 78 is accused of assaulting and violating the civil rights of John R Gallagher, 34 of Houtzdale.

The charges stemm from an incident July 13 2005 in George's Houtzdale office.

George has denied the accusations and filed his admit claims against Gallagher. George has claimed that Gallagher and others conspired to smear and defame him.

The pre-trial conversation on Friday lasted fewer than 10 minutes.
