STATE guild -- With a nearly four-month backlog for a colonoscopy to find colorectal cancer, the opening of Geisinger's recently made known three-room Endoscopy Centre and the addition of sum of two units gastroenterologists should help shorten the wait, center officials said.
"We're probably talking about as many as 20 to 30 a day," said gastroenterologist Dr Jeffrey Lichtenstein, who has been named the center's medical director. "That should allow us to drastically make less the wait time."
The center uncloses this week and will proffer high definition video colonoscopies, capsule endoscopy and easy access to Geisinger's 64-slice CT scanner for diagnosis and treatment during manner of proceedings if necessary.
Gastroenterologists Irphran Gaslightwala and Hashem J Hashem have joined Geisinger.
