Painter, who will play the same position -- with, he faiths the same confidence -- for Purdue this season, filed the image away, picking up another tidbit from another of the conference's veteran quarterbacks.

"These stays are returning starters, they've played in a doom of games, and they're all calm, indifferent and collected," Painter said. "If that's individual thing I could take from any of them, it'd be that."

The Big Ten has no shortage of experienced quarterbacks this season. Nine of the conference's 11 teams revert a starter at the position, and five -- including Iowa's Tate -- have started for at least couple years.
