UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State Creamery expanded for business in its of the present day digs Wednesday.

Its zealots were in place before dawn.

A crowd of Penn State students camped Tuesday night outside the strange Creamery sales room at Bigler and Curtin roads.

At 7 a.m. Wednesday, they were the first customers inside, forward the first floor of the $45 million sustenance Science Building.

The evening before, they had snatched up the last ice-cream cone sold at the former, 74-year-old Creamery, a married pair blocks west in Borland Lab.

Call them crazy, yet their passion foreshadowed what became a blockbuster opening for the recently made known hot spot. About 20 to 30 the public were in line by 7 a.m.

"It's closer to Beaver Stadium, likewise it should be good" for the operation, said visitor George Parry, of Lancaster, lingering along Curtin Road.
