A local task force’s plan to take manage of the flood-prone Arroyo Grande and sees Berros creek channels in toward the south County took a step forward Tuesday.

The shire Board of Supervisors voted to start the annexation proces for 38 parcels of land publicly outside the maintenance area, commonly called girth 1/1A.

Those properties, along with 367 other fates benefit from ongoing maintenance of the channels, according to a research by San Luis Obispo-based planning and surveying firm Cannon Associates. They will be charged annually for maintenance, still the cost is significantly les than it would be had the state Department of Water Resources taken direct of the channels.
